Per school board member Frank Barbieri’s request, a fifth ‘community input’ meeting has been added. The meetings are intended to share information and gather the public’s concerns and comments about Florida’s testing and new accountability requirements that come with adoption of Florida Standards – standards based on the Common Core.

The meetings begin Monday, 6 p.m. at Boynton Beach High, 4975 Park Ridge Blvd.

The Boca Raton meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16 at Olympic Heights High at 20101 Lyons Rd.

Meetings also are planned for West Palm Beach, Belle Glade and Royal Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County School District is also asking folks who go to the meetings to fill out an online survey.

Last month, the board  registered its objections in a resolution opposing  ‘high-stakes’ testing that influences everything from school grades to the promotion of children to the next grade.
